lyrics

The war between the sexes has been an age-old fight
With arguments and quarrels going on most every night
Insults flyin', women cryin', men who rant and rave
It's been a common practice since the caveman left his cave

My woman and myself were no exception to the rule
Her swearin' at me up and down, me yellin' like a fool
We finally had the one big fight that brought things to a head
Before admitting I was right she packed her things and fled

I won the battle but I lost the war
Now I feel more lonely than I've ever felt before
It don't matter who was wrong or right if love flies out the door
'Cause I won the battle but I lost the war

I hope you'll take a lesson from my empty victory
The home that was our battlefield's now silent as can be
The conflict now is over, the enemy's withdrawn
And with a deeply wounded heart I'll have to carry on

I won the battle but I lost the war …
